What is meant by metallurgy
The process of extracting pure metals from their ores is called metallurgy.
Various steps involved in the extraction of a metal from its ore are
ƒ Crushing and pulverisation of the ore
ƒ Concentration (or dressing) of the ore

ƒ Extraction of metal

The actual metallurgical process and the various steps involved in it
depend upon nature of the ore and the metal.

How is an ore crushed and pulverised

Big lumps of the ores are crushed to smaller pieces by hammering it in
